President and Director of Training

Joe started the company with his brother Matt in 1993.  Joe holds a BS from the University of Utah’s college of Community and Environmental Health (1988).  He is a registered Environmental Health Scientist and has served as Adjunct Instructor for the RMCOH/University of Utah, Salt Lake and Utah Valley Community Colleges, Hazardous Materials Association, National Fire Academy, Colorado Fire Academy and the Utah Police Officers Standards and Training.  Joe is also the past President of the Utah Hazardous Materials Institute and past commander for the Tooele County Search and Rescue. Joe is a nationally recognized training instructor.

Lead Instructor

Gary is a lead instructor for ITSI, and has over 27 years experience in and extensive knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, DOT, and Army Environmental Regulations.  He is an Authorized OSHA General Industry Trainer for 10 and 30 hour courses. Gary has hundreds of hours in RCRA, Ground water, Vapor sampling over his career.  He has been plant foreman for largest privately held hazardous waste company and has experience in disposal, remediation and generator side of environmental regulations. Also, has planned, executed and completed many confined space entries.  Gary has completed hundreds hours of training as a student and environmental professional and thousands of hours as an instructor.

Principle of ITSI and Lead Instructor

Matt offers extremely strong credentials applicable to environmental and health and safety training. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Community and Environmental Health and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Utah (Fall 1987).  Matt has also completed graduate work in Public Health and has completed thousands of hours of training from DOT, EPA, OSHA, National Fire Academy, Utah Safety Council etc.

Office and Finance Manager

Lora has been married to Joe since 1986 and has been has been with ITSI since 1997. As office and finance manager, Lora is responsible for all course organization, company finances and day to day operations. She prepares all training materials and certifications for each course.

Jessica Garcia

Office Assistant

Jessica is a part of day to day operations. She is responsible for manual assembly, certificate preparation, and general assistance to Lora. Jessica has been with the company since 2003 and is a valuable asset to the team.

Kay Rose

Instructor

Kay has over 15 years of training experience and extensive knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, DOT, TSCA, NEPA and Army Environmental Regulations.  She is certified in Environmental Sampling Techniques and Confined Space Entry.  Kay has been an adjunct instructor of ITSI since 2009. Kay has developed and presented numerous training courses for compliance with EPA, OSHA and DOT requirements. These classroom courses include HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, RCRA Overview, RCRA Site-Specific and Contingency Planning, HazMat transportation, chemical compatibility and various other topics. She has also implemented methods and systems for tracking recurring training and certification requirements.

Nicholas Trujillo

Instructor

Nick graduated from Southern Utah University in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Communication and a minor in Chemistry and Spanish. Nick also holds a Masters degree in Professional Communications. With Nick's language skills he has acquired studying in both Spain and Mexico, he has become the lead instructor for many of ITSI's Spanish courses.

Douglas Thornton

Instructor

Doug offer strong credentials in health, safety, and environmental training. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health/Industrial Hygiene and a minor in Chemistry from Utah State University. He holds a master of Science Degree in Public Health/Industrial Hygiene from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Doug is also a certified Industrial Hygienist.

Jared Wright

Instructor

Jared is a Paramedic, EMS Instructor, CPR instructor and
Mountain West Ambulance Administration/Training Officer. He studied at Weber State University in Paramedic Studies.
14 Years 911 Paramedic experience
Jared is a family guy, with 3 children, 1 dog and 1 cat. He loves to instruct CPR, providing excellent training increases survival rates of cardiac arrest dramatically.

Rick McKissock

Instructor

Rick McKissock is a Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer (CET) and Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM). He has 20 years of experience as an Environmental Scientist working and consulting for the Department of Defense, energy companies, and other industry. Rick holds BS degrees in Earth Science and Secondary Education from Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Geology from the George Washington University.   , trustworthy, fun.
